Cost ranges, treatment timeline (3–9 months for healing-and-load), bone grafting protocol when you don't have enough bone, what makes implants fail, lifetime maintenance, and AQUA's 10-year warranty terms. Led by Dr. Mohanad Atwa (University of Florida–trained prosthodontist) with surgical support from Dr. Mohamed Assaggaf (KAU faculty periodontist).

Direct answer

Dental implants in Jeddah at AQUA Dent Clinics use Straumann, Nobel Biocare, and Dentsply Sirona systems, planned with Planmeca Viso G7 CBCT and digital surgical guides. Published 2026 ranges: a single implant + crown (Straumann/Nobel) is SAR 9,300–9,800; bone graft when needed adds SAR 3,300–7,500; All-on-X full-arch rehabilitation is priced at consultation because the final fee depends on the implant count, the choice of provisional and final restoration, and whether sinus lift is required. Treatment timeline is typically 3–9 months from extraction to final crown.

Implant options — what each is for

The right implant approach depends on which tooth (or teeth) are missing, the condition of surrounding bone, and your goals. The cards below describe each option's scope and timeline. Pricing is set in writing at the consultation per AQUA's 2026 official price list — see the reference at the bottom of this section.

Single tooth

Single implant + crown

  • Healing time: 3–4 months
  • Best for: missing tooth with healthy neighbors
  • Preserves bone, no neighbor damage
  • AQUA standard: Straumann or Nobel Biocare
Front aesthetic zone

Anterior implant + zirconia crown

  • Healing time: 4–6 months (often with bone graft)
  • Aesthetic challenge — gum line + papilla
  • Custom abutment + zirconia crown standard
  • Provisional + soft tissue shaping included
Multi-tooth · Bridge alternative

Implant-supported bridge (3 units)

  • Healing time: 4–6 months
  • 2 implants supporting 3-unit bridge
  • Saves cost vs. 3 single implants
  • Best for: 2–3 adjacent missing teeth
Full arch · Same-day teeth

All-on-4

  • Healing: provisional same day, final 4–6 months
  • 4 implants support full-arch hybrid bridge
  • Acrylic-titanium provisional, then PMMA or zirconia final
  • Often avoids bone grafting (tilted posterior implants)
Full arch · Maximum support

All-on-6 / All-on-X

  • 6+ implants for higher chewing forces
  • Best for: heavy bruxism, max bone available
  • Final restoration in monolithic zirconia
  • Includes detailed maintenance protocol
AQUA 2026 published price reference
  • Single implant + crown (Straumann or Nobel): SAR 9,300–9,800
  • Bone graft / sinus lift (when needed): SAR 3,300–7,500 (added to implant fee)
  • Gum graft (Alloderm) when needed: SAR 3,000–4,800

Treatment timeline — what happens at each stage

Diagnosis & 3D planning

Free consultation. Clinical exam, panoramic X-ray, and CBCT (Planmeca Viso G7) when implant placement is confirmed. Bone height and width measured digitally. Surgical guide designed in-house for guided placement (≥97% accuracy vs. freehand).

Tooth extraction (if still present) + immediate site preservation

Atraumatic extraction technique to preserve socket bone. Bone graft + collagen membrane placed immediately to prevent socket collapse. Healing 3–4 months before implant.

Bone grafting (when needed)

For inadequate bone: GBR (guided bone regeneration) with xenograft + membrane (mild cases), block graft from chin/ramus (moderate), or sinus lift via lateral window (upper posterior). Healing 4–6 months before implant.

Implant placement surgery

Outpatient procedure under local anesthesia. Guided surgery via 3D-printed surgical template. 30–90 minutes per implant. Healing cap or healing abutment placed; soft tissue closure. Patients with significant anxiety or complex full-arch cases may be referred to a hospital setting if pharmacologic sedation is clinically indicated.

Osseointegration (healing)

Implant surface bonds with bone over 3–4 months (lower jaw faster, upper jaw slower). No chewing pressure on the implant during this phase. Temporary tooth replacement (Essix flipper or composite bridge) provided for visible areas.

Final restoration: abutment + crown

Digital impression with intraoral scanner. CAD/CAM custom abutment milled in-house. Final crown (zirconia, ceramic, or PFM) cemented or screw-retained. 1–2 visits.

Follow-up & maintenance

6-week post-cementation check. Then twice-yearly hygiene with implant-specific cleaning protocol (titanium-safe instruments, no scaling on implant surface). Annual peri-implant assessment. 10-year warranty on the implant fixture itself.

Frequently asked questions

How long do dental implants last?

The titanium implant fixture (the screw in the bone) has a 10-year survival rate over 95% in published studies, and many last 25+ years. The crown on top has a typical 10–15 year lifespan before needing replacement (chip, wear, or color change). AQUA warranties the implant fixture for 10 years; the crown carries a separate 5-year warranty against material defects.

What makes implants fail?

Top failure causes: (1) smoking (3-5x failure rate), (2) uncontrolled diabetes, (3) peri-implantitis from poor home care, (4) inadequate bone support at placement, (5) excessive bite force from bruxism without nightguard, (6) systemic disease (osteoporosis on bisphosphonates). Most failures occur in the first 18 months. Early-failure implants are typically replaced at no charge under the AQUA warranty.

Is it painful?

The surgery itself is painless under local anesthesia. Post-op discomfort is typically mild — most patients manage with paracetamol/ibuprofen for 2–3 days. Full-arch (All-on-4) cases have more swelling for 5–7 days. Bone grafting can extend post-op discomfort to 1 week. AQUA does not provide pharmacologic sedation in-clinic; patients with very high anxiety or full-arch cases that would benefit from sedation are referred to a hospital partner where sedation is performed by a board-certified anesthetist.

How do I maintain my implants?

Daily: brush twice with soft brush + antibacterial paste. Floss with implant-specific floss (Superfloss or interproximal brushes — regular floss can damage gum-implant seal). Water flosser recommended. Twice-yearly professional cleaning at AQUA with implant-safe titanium-coated curettes. Annual radiographic check for peri-implant bone level. Avoid: hard candy, ice, or anything you wouldn't crack with a normal tooth.
