Dr. Mohamed Assaggaf is a Saudi periodontist and academic clinician with the Department of Periodontics at King Abdulaziz University's Faculty of Dentistry in Jeddah, where he has been a faculty member since 2010. He earned his BDS from KAU near the top of his class (GPA 3.94) before completing clinical periodontal training as a resident at King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital, followed by postgraduate research training in collaboration with Boston University's Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine and the Forsyth Institute in the United States.
His research spans periodontal epidemiology in Saudi populations, the interaction between systemic health (diabetes, obesity) and periodontal disease, drug-induced gingival overgrowth, and adjunctive biomaterials such as hyaluronic acid for post-extraction healing. His work appears in PLOS ONE, Annals of Saudi Medicine, and the American Journal of Pathology, with more than 200 citations and an h-index of 7 on Google Scholar.
At AQUA Dent Clinics, Dr. Assaggaf contributes his periodontal and implant expertise, combining academic rigor with patient-centered care in gum health, soft-tissue management, and implant-supported restorations.
Removing tartar and bacteria below the gum line to halt periodontal inflammation and prepare tissues to heal.
Covering exposed roots and rebuilding soft tissue using autologous or substitute grafts.
Reshaping the gum line to reveal an ideal crown proportion — a precise, conservative procedure.
Removing melanin pigmentation to restore a natural pink gum colour with lasting results.
Bone grafting and sinus lift procedures to enable implants in sites lacking sufficient bone volume.
Long-term recall program to preserve tissue stability and protect implants from peri-implantitis.
